The men’s 3 × 3 final, the most watched event of the Olympic Games on Russian television

According to a producer for the Russian sports broadcaster that owns the Olympic rights, the men’s 3 × 3 basketball final at the Tokyo Olympics broke audience records.

Finalists of the Olympic Games for both women and men, the Russians fell in love with 3 × 3 in Tokyo. According to Tina Kandelaki, producer of Match TV, the Russian sports broadcaster with Olympic rights, the final between the Russian Olympic Committee and Latvia was the most watched sporting event of the fortnight.

“Over 28.6 million people watched the Olympics on Match TV, and the total airtime was 269 hours. The most popular sports are 3 × 3 basketball, volleyball, athletics, artistic gymnastics and judo… The best-watched event was the 3 × 3 men’s national basketball team final against Latvia , garnering an audience share of 17%, ”she revealed on Instagram.
