The 2022 national badminton selection contest, which determines the best badminton players in Korea, kicked off on the 17th at the National Sports Center in Jeongeup-si, Jeollabuk-do.
Hosted by the Korea Badminton Association and co-organized by the Jeongeup City Badminton Association and the Jeollabuk-do Badminton Association, the tournament will be held for 8 days from the 17th to the 24th.
In this competition to determine the best badminton players in the country, 84 top badminton players in Korea who have obtained qualifications to participate in the national team competition will participate.
The singles match will be played as a group match, and the doubles match will be held as an evaluation match in which a partner player and an opponent are randomly selected. Through fierce competition, 40 players who will represent Korea in 2022 will be selected.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the city plans to thoroughly manage the quarantine management, such as complying with quarantine guidelines such as measuring body temperature and making a list, and disinfecting the inside of the stadium every day.
In particular, all athletes and officials entering the stadium must submit negative results after testing for COVID-19, and must submit daily movement checklists during the competition.
The tournament will be held without spectators, and all matches of this tournament can be viewed in real time through the YouTube channel ‘Oh My Play’.
A city official said, “We hope that it will serve as an opportunity to publicize Jeongeup as the best place for badminton to the whole country by holding a series of high-quality competitions from this national badminton selection contest to the fall badminton championships scheduled for the end of September.” We will contribute to the revitalization of the stagnant sports sector and the local economy by successfully hosting the tournament.”
