Soccer: Donata Hopfen becomes DFL Managing Director – Sport

A woman at the top of the German Football League (DFL): Donata Hopfen will take over the chairmanship of the DFL management team and the position of spokeswoman for the DFL Presidium from January 1, 2022. The DFL announced on Saturday. The 45-year-old succeeds Christian Seifert. Your contract will initially run until December 31, 2024.

Hopfen is currently managing director and partner at BCG Digital Ventures, a company in the Boston Consulting Group. Before that, she was, among other things, chairwoman of the publishing management of the “Bild” group at Axel-Springer-Verlag. The DFL Supervisory Board agreed with Seifert on an early termination of the managing director’s contract, which ran until June 30, 2022, at the end of the year. Seifert will initially be available to the new management in an advisory capacity if necessary.
