Arrival of the quinté : 6 – 1 – 12 – 10 -11
As a general rule, the Deauville racecourse track is not the most suitable for wait-and-see people. However, the first two at the passage of the post were among the last at the end of the line opposite.
Thrown from afar by Eddy Hardouin, Berkane (n ° 6) responded perfectly to the requests of his jockey. Yet, a hundred yards from the goal, he looked as though he had to be dominated by Mirabeau Bridge (n ° 1), also wait-and-see. This was not the case since the 3-year-old colt was tenacious until the end to resist his contemporary at the end of the 2,500 m. As for his runner-up, he has had an excellent comeback, he who had been absent since May.
Quickly lead the pack, American Park (n ° 12), was extremely courageous to keep the third at the expense of the favorite, Secret Island (n ° 10). This last one is inevitably the “note” of the race: still last side rope at the entry of the straight line, it finished remarkably, making again a lot of ground in the last hectometers. As for Arazy (n ° 11), she was as cold as she was courageous and completed the good combination of the quinté by only one head ahead of Coobird (n ° 2).
