Philip Rivers back in the NFL?

Quarterback Philip Rivers’ career in the NFL may not be over. The one who announced his retirement last January has hinted that he wouldn’t necessarily say no to a team that asked him to put his helmet and shoulder pads back on at the end of the season.

“I’m just going to be ready,” Rivers said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. However, I want to be clear: I am not predicting that I will play in December or January. First, someone must want me. Second, it must be good for me. ”

“But I did not completely rule out a return to competition,” he continued.

Drafted fourth overall in the 2004 auction, Rivers played 17 seasons in the NFL. He mainly wore the colors of the San Diego and Los Angeles Chargers, then ended his career with the Indianapolis Colts in 2020.

Training in Indiana would be a logical destination for the 39-year-old, who lost the services of Carson Wentz for a period of five to 12 weeks. The Colts need help quickly, though, which doesn’t appear to be in Rivers’ plans.

In his career, the University of North Carolina product completed 64.9% of his passes for gains of 63,440 yards and 421 touchdowns. Rivers also ranks fifth in NFL history in these two categories of statistics.
