With silver, the 20-year-old secured a starting place in the German men’s championship – Philipp Ampletzer finished seventh

At the South German men’s championship in judo, the judoka of the TuS Bad Aibling showed strong fights:

Patrick Weisser (left in the picture) won the runner-up and thus a starting place in the German men’s championship, which will take place in September.

In the morning, Patrick Weisser competed in the weight class up to 66 kilograms.

In the first fight of the preliminary round, the 20-year-old managed to dominate his opponent and take the lead with a shoulder throw. With a large inner sickle, he achieved another rating and was thus able to demonstrate the early victory.

In the second fight, too, the young Aiblinger didn’t miss a thing and threw his opponent on his back with an O-Uchi-Gari foot throw, for which he received an Ippon, a full point.

As the pool winner, Weisser now faced Tristan Kuhlmann from Jahn Nürnberg in the semifinals. Just a few seconds after the start of the fight, Weisser showed his skills and threw the Franconian with a hip throw (Sode-Tsuri-Komi-Goshi). With a subsequent counter technique he was able to end this fight prematurely and thus fight for a place in the final.

Here he met Kevin Abeltshauser from Abensberg, who won the final with a Uchi-Mata, an inner thigh throw.

Philipp Ampletzer also competed in the weight class under 81 kilos (in blue judogi) his first competition after over a year and a half and was able to confidently win his first encounter with a shoulder throw (photo) after he had already taken the lead with a diving technique.

The quarter-finals against Daniel Ruf from JV Nürtingen were balanced and tactical for a long time. Shortly before the end of the fight, Ruf managed to take advantage of Ampletzer’s carelessness and win the fight with a ground technique.

In the consolation round, Ampletzer now had to face the tatami against Linus Harsch from VfL Sindelfingen. Although the Aiblinger showed the better approaches, Ampletzer did not succeed in bringing about a decision in the regular fight time.

In extra time, the “Golden Score”, he was clearly more active than his opponent and was able to force the final passivity penalty for his opponent after more than six minutes of fighting time.

After this show of strength, however, the 24-year-old was out of breath and he was clearly defeated by Julian Maier from KSV Esslingen in the following encounter. Thus he occupies a 7th place and was able to achieve his goal of collecting mat time again after the long break with a total of four fights.
