Pastrňák has another Golden Hockey stick. He is the best Czech player for the fifth time in a row

For the fifth time in a row, forward David Pastrňák won the traditional Golden Hockey poll for the best Czech hockey player of the season. The Boston Gunner became the first player in history to do so.

The second was Stanley Cup winner with Tampa Bay Ondřej Palát, the third another forward and Pastrňák’s teammate from Boston David Krejčí.

The 25-year-old native of Havířov, Pastrňák, won the 53rd year of the poll by only 20 points, which is the smallest lead since the beginning of his winning streak in 2017, when he replaced the still playing legend Jaromír Jágr on the throne. Together with him, he has held the previous record of four victories in a row. Jágr succeeded in the years 2005 to 2008.

With five first championships, Pastrňák disengaged from Vladimír Martinec and compared himself to another legend of Czech hockey and another Olympic winner from Nagano next to Jágr – goalkeeper Dominik Hašek. The Jagrine list of winners continues to dominate with 12 triumphs.
