Olympia 2021: The Schedule for Day 11 – Sports

Beachvolleyball: Olympic champions Laura Ludwig and Margareta Kozuch face Alix Klineman / April Ross from the USA in the quarterfinals. The game starts at 2 a.m. With two Olympic and three World Cup medals, Ross is one of the most successful beach volleyball players in the world and, like Ludwig, now plays with a former indoor player.

Basketball: From 3 a.m. the German team tries to defeat the big favorites Slovenia with NBA top player Luka Doncic and advance to the semi-finals.

Table tennis: Also at 3 a.m., the German women’s team will play its quarter-finals against South Korea. The men are up against Taiwan at 7.30 am – also in the quarter-finals.

Wasserspringen: For Patrick Hausding, the 3-meter board was surprisingly over in the preliminary fight. But Martin Wolfram jumps in the semifinals (3 o’clock). There will be jumping for medals from 8 a.m. The favorite, of course, is Chinese and is called Wang Zongyuan.

Athletics: Will it work out with the first gold in athletics for Germany? Malaika Mihambo could do the feat in the long jump (3.50 clock). She has to prevail against the favorites Ese Brume (Nigeria) and Brittney Reese.

Kanurennsport: Sebastian Brendel / Tim Hecker will start over 1000 meters in a two-man canoe in the semifinals (2.44 a.m.). Entry into the finals is mandatory. Brendel won gold in Rio, back then with Jan Candrey, and is now one of the podium finals with Hecker in the final at 4.53 a.m. The strongest competitors come from Brazil and China.

Jacob Schopf also has to survive his semi-finals in the kayak single over 1000 meters (3 a.m.), but if successful he is also one of the medal candidates in the finals (5:20 a.m.). Sabrina Hering-Pradler and Tina Dietze as well as Sarah Brüßler and Caroline Arft paddle for the final (3.23 a.m.) in a pair of kayaks. But they would not be favorites there (5.46 a.m.).

Sail: One day late, Tina Lutz and Susann Beucke want to sail for a medal in the 49erFX (5.30 a.m.). The final was postponed because of the bad weather conditions. In third place, they still have a chance of winning gold. Erik Heil / Thomas Plößel in 49ers want to move up from fourth place and win their second medal after bronze in Rio 2016 (6.30 a.m.).

Track bike: In qualifying, the German team already set a world record with Lisa Klein, Mieke Kröger, Lisa Brennauer and Franziska Brauße. In the final (10:26 a.m.) she is of course one of the favorites for gold. But the US drivers and Great Britain are strong competitors. The men’s team will also start in the finals (10.44 a.m.), but the medal candidates are the Netherlands, Great Britain and Australia.

Art tours: Simone Biles had canceled four out of five competitions. The US gymnast will be back in the balance beam final – from 10.50 a.m.

Hockey: For the German women, it was over against Argentina in the quarter-finals. The men are still in the tournament – but will now meet the world number one Australia in the semifinals (12 noon).

Handball: In the quarter-finals against Egypt, the German team needs a brilliant performance from 1:45 p.m. to advance to the semi-finals. At the last World Cup, the African champions only failed in a dramatic seven-meter shoot-out against eventual world champions Denmark.
