Olympia 2021 – Eventing: Julia Krajewski wins individual gold

Julia Krajewski won individual gold in eventing at the Olympic Games with mare Amande de B’Neville. The German rider remained without a drop in the final jumping on Monday. With a total of 26.00 penalty points, she prevailed ahead of the British Tom McEwen on Toledo De Kerser (29.30) and the Australian Andrew Hoy with Vassiliy de Lassos (29.60).

Krajewski crowned a race to catch up after fourth place in dressage and a flawless cross-country ride with two faultless rounds in jumping.

Michael Jung, who won gold in singles in London in 2012 and in Rio in 2016, finished eighth with Chipmunk (36.10). In the team standings, the German team had previously remained in fourth place behind Great Britain, Australia and France without a medal.

Successful at the fourth Olympiad in a row

The German eventing riders thus collected an individual medal at the fourth Olympic Games in succession. Hinrich Romeike triumphed in Beijing in 2008, Michael Jung won gold in London in 2012 and four years later in Rio. Sandra Auffarth also won bronze in London.

It is the sixth gold medal so far for German athletes in Tokyo. Shortly before Krajewski, the wrestler Aline Rotter-Focken was successful.
