On Wednesday’s NFL news: 49ers cut Josh Rosen; Chargers, Rams and Panthers announce safety protocols for 2021, Teven Jenkins will undergo back surgery, and more. Don’t miss the NFL news.

49ers cut Josh Rosen

Trey Lance wasn’t the only first-round quarterback on the Los Angeles roster. 49ersHowever, now it is. This Tuesday, via Mike Garafolo from NFL Network, it was confirmed that San Francisco decided to cut Josh Rosen, who was the 10th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Just three years and four teams already for Rosen, that’s how his disappointing professional career can be summed up so far. The UCLA graduate came to the Cardinals three seasons ago, where he threw for 2,278 yards, 11 TDs and 14 INTs, with a 3-10 record as a starter. After that deplorable campaign, the then HC Steve Wilks was dismissed and in his place arrived Kliff Kingsbury, who did not hesitate to select Kyler Murray to start a new project. Consequently, Rosen was forced to relocate to Miami.

In 2019 and with a change of scene, things did not improve for Rosen in the Dolphins. He started only in three games and went 0-3, throwing 1 TD against 5 INT. Later, history repeated itself. Miami decided to draft Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and Rosen had to re-migrate in search of playing time.

For 2020 he landed in the Buccaneers, but never played beyond the practice squad, and after one season he was signed by the 49ers last December. However, San Francisco selected the QB in the 2021 NFL Draft Trey Lance, and with the return of Jimmy Garoppolo, there was virtually no chance for Rosen to make the 53 roster.

Finally, it should be noted that Rosen was a highly respected prospect in the 2018 NFL Draft, so much so that he was selected even before Lamar Jackson. However, he never managed to find a stable project to show his talent. Maybe he made it to the worst Cardinals and the worst Dolphins seen in recent years, and now, perhaps, his career has come to an end.

Teven Jenkins to undergo back surgery

It was inevitable to keep putting off this decision. Offensive tackle Teven Jenkins, to whom Bears selected with the 39th overall pick of the last Draft, he will undergo back surgery, said on Wednesday HC Matt Nagy, who also commented that he hopes that this injury does not end his season. By now Jenkins still hasn’t been able to practice at the team’s training camp, missing 16 sessions including this morning.

Jenkins suffered the lower back injury last fall playing for Oklahoma State, in a game against Oklahoma, so he was unable to finish the game. Later, shortly after that, he announced that he would choose not to play the rest of the season to focus on preparing for the NFL draft. His Combine medical report indicated that he had a lumbar strain in college, but a source who reviewed the report said it was not something to worry about.

Apparently it is the opposite, and now the second selection of the Bears in this 2021 will be out for an indeterminate time, even the entire season. To make matters worse, protecting Justin Fields will be a challenge as Chicago is missing two other projected starters on the offensive line. Right guard James Daniels has been out for two weeks with a quadriceps injury, and right tackle Germain Ifedi has yet to practice after sustaining a hip flexor injury early in training camp.

Chargers, Rams and Panthers announce safety protocols for 2021

NFL teams continue to ensure the safety of fans who attend the stands this year. In earlier days it was the Eagles, Raiders and Bills who released precautionary measures that will be implemented in their respective stadiums from the start of the 2021 Regular Season. This Tuesday, two venues and three more teams joined the initiative: Rams, Chargers and Panthers announced the security protocols to follow to give fans access.

Rams Y Chargers, who share the SoFi Stadium for their home games, noted that all fans should wear a face mask inside the stadium until further notice. Los Angeles County instituted a mask mandate for what it calls “mega outdoor events,” those of 10,000 or more attendees. The mandate goes into effect at 11:59 p.m. on August 19 and means that anyone attending a game at SoFi Stadium will be required to wear a mandatory face mask, regardless of vaccination status.

For her part, Carolina announced that they have updated Bank of America Stadium health and safety protocols in accordance with the new City of Charlotte indoor mask guidelines. The team will require all fans and staff to wear face masks in all indoor spaces. Although it will not be necessary to cover your face outdoors.

The Panthers They will make face masks available at stadium entry points, as well as security booths, and will encourage fans who are not fully vaccinated to wear a face mask in all areas. Additionally, many of the same protocols used in 2020 will be maintained, including cashless transactions, mobile ticketing, improved cleaning procedures, and hand sanitizing stations throughout the stadium.

Deshaun Watson’s agent calls press conference

The longest novel of this offseason is about to take another turn. Deshaun Watson, who faces up 21 civil lawsuits for sexual assault, He already showed up to train with the Houston TexansHowever, his participation in the 2021 NFL Season remains a mystery. But maybe today the story took a new turn.

Watson’s attorney, Rusty Hardin, has not issued many public comments throughout this situation. However, this Wednesday he will hold his second press conference since the civil charges were filed against Watson.

Hardin’s office established that the conference will take place this Wednesday at 10:00 Central Mexico hours: “Mr. Hardin will address Mr. Buzbee’s latest statements regarding the FBI in his continued attempts to bankrupt Deshaun Watson to force a settlement on his civil cases and to promote himself. “

With the above, Hardin refers to several comments made by attorney Tony Buzbee that suggest that the FBI is investigating Watson: “Let’s be clear, when someone walks into his office on the 73rd floor of the Chase Tower, either the FDA or the FBI, it’s a big problem, ”Buzbee told Amy Dash of leagueofjustice.com. “Well, it was the FBI … They contacted me and I have met with them three times and now they have met with several of the plaintiffs in the case.”

“I was told [los agentes], ‘Look, what we’ve heard is that most of the contacts [con las demandantes] they happened over the internet, which creates jurisdiction for us. ‘ Then I understood that there are also these two women who are from out of state, which obviously creates more jurisdiction ”.

Hardin usually doesn’t get involved with Buzbee, but the comments apparently went a long way this time. We’ll have to wait a few more hours to find out what Hardin has to say about it.

The most striking roster moves of Tuesday, August 17

In more NFL news, this Tuesday was the deadline for NFL teams to reduce their rosters to 85 players, and they weren’t just Tim Tebow and Josh Rosen who became free agents, in this space we will recap the three most striking cuts we saw yesterday:

  • RB Lamar Miller: Miami graduate running back cut from the WFT roster. Miller He came to the NFL in 2012 with the Dolphins, a team where he played three seasons before playing another three for the Texans. In those six years he accumulated 5,864 yards on the ground and 32 TDs, even getting two seasons of 1000+ yards. However, in the 2019 preseason he tore his ACL and he hasn’t seen a single offensive carry since. In your 30s, will you be able to revive your career?
  • RB Alfred Morris: In nine seasons as a professional he has 6,173 yards and 35 TDs. His best moment in the NFL was his first three seasons, where he managed to exceed 1000+ yards in each of them with Washington. However, from there his level declined, to the extent of only obtaining 243 yards last year with New York. Morris He is 32 years old and a free agent, will we see him play this year?
  • WR Antonio Callaway: the Florida graduate arrived with the Browns in 2018, a season where he received for 586 yards and 5 TDs; not bad for a newbie. However, from there his trajectory collapsed. Between 2019 and 2020, Callaway He missed a total of 14 regular season games by suspension, and the lack of consistency weighed on him on Tuesday when the Chiefs, with whom he had signed last January, decided to cut him from the squad.

What other movement did you find interesting? Will any of the three mentioned be able to correct course and find a team before the start of the 2021 NFL Season?

This is today’s NFL news.
