Jimmy Johnson to be inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor

This Thursday, during the 2021 NFL Hall of Fame game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones announced that former Dallas head coach Jimmy Johnson will be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame: “It’s a bit difficult not recognizing this contribution to franchise history, ”Jones said, with Johnson aside. “It will be in the Ring of Honor.”

Johnson coached the Cowboys for five seasons from 1989 to 1993, posting a 44-36 regular season record and winning Super Bowls XXVII and XXVIII. Jones hired Johnson after buying the team in 1989, making him the second head coach in franchise history, succeeding the legendary HC Tom Landy.

Finally, Johnson will also be officially inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame this Saturday as a member of the 2020 Class. So, it’s safe to say, he has both more than deserved appointments.

Tom Brady: “NFL players are ignorant”

2020 was not an easy year for the NFL. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, income fell and as a consequence there was a reduction in the salary cap. However, this Thursday Forbes magazine published an article where they noted that the average value of NFL franchises increased by 14% in the last year. However, Buccaneers QB Tom Brady seems to think the players are getting the brunt of their negotiations with NFL owners.

“The salary cap was lowered by 20% and the new media deals were announced the day AFTER the 2021 salary cap was set. NFL players better wake up @nflpa. NFL players are IGNORANT, “Brady noted through an Instagram story.

The new media deals Brady is referring to will result in future salary cap increases, but the seven-time NFL champion appears to think players are being treated unfairly with this year’s salary cap reduction. That deal, however, is what a majority of the players agreed to when they voted to approve the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. And at the time NFLPA CEO DeMaurice Smith was wrapping up negotiations for such a deal, Brady even complimented Smith’s work. Therefore, it is strange that he expresses his disagreement so far.

Josh Allen is at peace about his second contract

In more NFL news, a possible contract renewal for Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been one of the most talked about topics in recent weeks. And although the GM of the team, Brandon Beane, pointed out that during this preseason that issue should be closed, this Thursday Allen pointed out that this situation does not worry him at all:

“If so, great. If not, great, ”Allen told Adam Schein of SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio. “I am trying to be the best that I can be for the team this year. We have a set goal. Like I said, that will resolve itself … When it happens, it will. I’m at peace with that. “

Allen’s position is understandable as he has little to lose. In fact, it is the Bills who should rush the talks because the longer they go without signing Allen, the more money they will have to pay him, since the Wyoming alumnus is indisputably the starting quarterback and the face of this franchise.

This season Allen will play under the fourth year of his rookie contract, which guarantees him a base salary of just $ 920,000, however, if Buffalo exercises the fifth year option, Allen would earn in 2022 an annual amount of 23 million dollars and for the 2023 NFL Season he would become a free agent, which the Bills will try to avoid at all costs.

Nick Sirianni: “there is no rush to name Jalen Hurts as starter”

We can’t deny that the best quarterback on the Eagles roster today is Jalen Hurts. Also, he’s the one who’s been taking reps with the first team during training camp. However, the Oklahoma graduate is not Philadelphia’s starting quarterback, or at least not yet.

Head coach Nick Sirianni has been careful not to name Hurts as the Eagles’ QB1 yet. He did not do it during any offseason program, not now in training camps. Apparently this is because Sirianni wants to make sure Hurts gets out and wins the job. And this Thursday, during a press conference, Sirianni said: “There is no rush to have to do that. [nombrar titular a Hurts] We just want you to continue to impress and show yourself how you have. We just haven’t gotten there yet. “

With the start of the 2021 NFL Season just over a month away, Philadelphia doesn’t have to name a starting quarterback anymore, but unless something dramatic happens, that will be Hurts’ job, as it looks so complicated that both Joe Flacco and Nick Mullens can take the job away from him.

Robert Griffin III signs with ESPN, but still wants to play in the NFL

Robert Griffin III spent the 2020 NFL Season as the Ravens’ backup quarterback, however this year his career will take a drastic turn. Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports reported that Griffin finalized a multi-year agreement with ESPN television network. The deal includes narrating college football games, but McCarthy points out that it could also have a covering role for the NFL. However, Griffin III commented that despite having signed, he would still like to return to the league.

“ESPN has been great throughout this process and understanding that I still want to play,” said Griffin, via Joe Reedy of Associated Press. “I still love the game. If that opportunity does not come, I will give everything I have to ESPN and this process. “

Griffin’s contract has a clause that will allow him to resume his path in the NFL if the opportunity arises. However, the above looks difficult as the Baylor graduate’s career has taken a bummer since his rookie campaign in 2012 where he managed to be a Pro Bowler.
