Bayer Leverkusen could soon lose an important pillar from the championship team.
According to reports from “SportBild”, Jeremie Frimpong wants to leave the “Werkself” this summer. Despite a contract that runs until 2028, this should be made possible by an exit clause of 40 million euros.
Accordingly, numerous top clubs are interested in the 23-year-old, including Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal FC. In order for a change to take place, the exit clause must be drawn by the start of the European Championship on June 14th. It is not yet known exactly where the Dutch international is headed.
Frimpong moved from Celtic Glasgow to Bayer Leverkusen for eleven million euros in 2021. There he developed into a regular player and scored 18 points this season. After the championship title, he would like to win the DFB Cup and the Europa League with Leverkusen.
