Mali’s U19 women’s basketball team is following in the footsteps of their fellow boys who created a sensation by returning from the 2019 World Cup with the silver medal, a first for Africa in this category.
In the quarter-final of the U19 Women’s World Cup played last Friday, the Malian team beat Russia by a score of 69-47 and climbed to the semi-final where they will finally be discarded on Saturday by Australia 62-50. But by already qualifying for the semi-finals, it’s a hell of a performance for an African team.
