Pamela Ware, a Canadian competitor in diving from the three-meter board, will not remember her premiere under five circles in a good way. The attempt to make it to Monday’s final at the Tokyo Olympics ended in disaster. For a totally messed up attempt, at the decisive moment of qualification, she collected 0.0 points. The 28-year-old native of Québek prepared for her final attempt with a jump with a difficulty of 3.5.

But something went fatal, and instead of salt from the flexible board, Ware performed a strange flight resembling a “dove.”

The judges’ verdict was ruthless. The result of 0.0 meant a sad end to the competition for the Canadian. Something similar was “succeeded” in the same race by the Mexican Arantx Chávez.

Ware eventually took her failure sportily. Through social networks, she greeted fans from the Olympic Village and thanked everyone for the support she received after the unfortunate moment.

“What we show in the competition is just a small fraction of what we do to be where we are,” she regretted the years of work lost due to one mistake.

The Olympic race in jumping from a three-meter board was dominated on Monday by the Chinese Sh’-ting-mao, who defended the gold medal from Rio.
