V49 years ago they won their first title together. In the final of the European Championship on June 18, 1972, Germany defeated the former Soviet Union 3-0. Jupp Heynckes, today 76, played on the right in the attack – Gerd Müller in the center. Two years later they became world champions together in Munich.
Heynckes now has to say goodbye. Müller died on Sunday after a long period of dementia.
