Johan Mojica will be Elche’s new player and will play LaLiga 2021-22 | Colombians Abroad

Elche is close to closing the incorporation to its squad of the players Antonio Barragán and Johan Mojica, who already played in the team last season, as announced this Friday by the president of the Elche entity, Joaquín Buitrago.

Antonio Barragán is already in Elche, where he has undergone a medical examination, while the agreement with Girona for the transfer of Johan Mojica is practically closed, according to sources from the entity.

Barragán is done and Mojica almost too. We are finalizing it“, said the president of Elche to the media during the presentation of the summer tournament Festa d’Elx.

The two full-backs played for Elche last season, but the club decided not to initially renew their contracts while waiting to find other options on the market: “What you are looking for is quality and performance. They finished the contract and we were waiting for the market. They are players who have given us a sufficient and adequate level in First Division and can serve us“.

Buitrago admitted that with these two additions there would still be “several more” to complete the squad and reiterated that in the transfer market “you have to be patient, cold-blooded and not rush.”

“In the fans there is a certain point of despair because the signings do not arrive, but they will arrive and we will have a hard-working and competitive team,” said the president, who added that in the transfer market “precipitation leads to mistakes.”

“I think we will have a better squad than last year because those who are already have more experience and those who are going to come will improve us,” added the Elche president.

In relation to the credit of the CVC fund, an operation backed by Laliga, the leader pointed out that Elche will assess, at a meeting of the board of directors next Thursday, whether or not it is convenient to use its conditions.

“You have to look at all the conditions and see how they do it,” he said regarding the financial operation Buitrago, who warned of the problem in Spanish football with “Financial Fair Play and taxation, which are punishing having great stars.”

Finally, Buitrago hoped to be able to have 40% of the Elche stadium’s capacity for the first two games to be able to have 13,500 spectators in the stands, the same number of club subscribers two seasons ago. “The problem is to know the size of the cohabiting nuclei. If they allow five or six, and taking into account the distance that must be left, this figure can be reached,” he concluded.

It is worth remembering that Elche will play the 2021-22 season in the first division (LaLiga) and there the Colombian Helibelton Palacios acts as a right back. Mojica, who last season was on loan for six months, will then leave Girona, which is still in the second division.
