Ice Hockey World Championship for women – serious defeat – sport

The German women’s national ice hockey team suffered their first defeat at the World Cup in Calgary. After two wins at the start against Hungary (3: 0) and Denmark (3: 1), captain Julia Zorn was defeated by the Czech Republic 0: 2 (0: 0, 0: 1, 0: 1). The Czech women are now the winners of Group B. The German team will play against Japan on Friday night for second place. The opponent in the first knockout round on Saturday is either record world champion Canada or Olympic champion and defending champion USA, the Germans are in any case blatant outsiders. After the corona-related cancellation last year and some postponements, the World Cup is currently taking place at the unusual time at the end of the summer break.
