It is a terrible drama that played out on the night of Wednesday to Thursday in Portugal. As the British media report, the son of former German football star Michael Ballack was killed in a quad bike crash. Emilio Ballack was 18 years old.
The accident took place in Troia, south of Lisbon, at the family home. The vehicle fell on the young victim and crushed him on the large lot of the estate in which he was staying. “I know that the deceased was the son of a well-known footballer but I do not have details on who it was”, confirms a Portuguese officer.
Unfortunately, when help arrived, there was nothing left for Emilio to do. The teenager’s body was taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy.
Since the announcement of the terrible news, tributes have multiplied on social networks. Chelsea, the former club of Michael Ballack, notably tweeted: “Everyone associated with Chelsea Football Club is shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Emilio Ballack at the age of 18. All our thoughts are with his father Michel and his family during these sad times. “
Emilio is one of three children Michael Ballack had with his former partner Simone Lambe. The couple divorced in 2012.
