Helen Habib wins bronze at the European Championships – German Judo Association

After a first round win against the Romanian Lavinia Balan, Helen Habib had to admit defeat in the pool final of the later second from Sweden, Tara Babulfath, and continued to fight successfully in the consolation round. She won against both the French Morgan Annis and the Italian Ginevra Revelli with Ippon and was in the battle for bronze against the Turkish Zeynep Betul Sarikaya. She also won this fight halfway through the fight with Ippon and thus secured the bronze medal at the U18 European Championships.

The two starters in the 60 kilo class, Adam Toszegi and Lino Andrea Dello Russo, were eliminated in the first fight.

It is noteworthy that on the first day in the bouts of the three lowest weight classes, three European championship titles went to Azerbaijan.

The weight classes -52 kg, -57 kg, -63 kg and -66 kg, -73 kg start on Wednesday. The following German athletes are at the start:

  • -73 kg: Arthur Akopjan

Women U18:

  • -52 kg: Lena Djeriou
  • -57 kg: Fiona Fischer
