The wrestling tournament in the weight category up to 62 kilograms will start on Tuesday with the duel of the eighth final.
28-year-old Tinibekova was placed first in this weight class and is a favorite for winning the Olympics. Since winning the 2019 World Championships, the athlete has suffered only one loss.
Tinibekova is also the bronze medalist of the 2017 World Championship and a four-time Asian champion.
Last December, the two wrestlers met in the individual World Cup final, in which Grigoryeva lost 0:14.
Grigoriev will start in her third Olympic Games. She was ninth in London and eighth in Rio de Janeiro. Tinibekova also had two Olympic games behind her (loss in the quarterfinals in 2012 and failure in the bronze medal in 2016).
In the second round or quarterfinals, the winner of this fight will meet with the award-winning Hungarian Marianna Sastin or the Romanian Christ Inci.
Grigorjeva will be the only representative of Latvia in martial arts at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
