Falling Serbian and world number one Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals, Alexander Zverev is the new Olympic champion. The German, 5th in the ATP ranking, with authority defeated the Russian Karen Kachanov (25th in the world) in the final, Sunday August 1 in Tokyo, in two sets (6-3, 6-1). Already strong with a Masters and four Masters 1000, the 24-year-old tennis player seizes Olympic gold: he is the first German to do so in singles in the men’s table, while his compatriot Steffi Graf was climbed to the top in the women’s table during the Seoul Olympics in 1988. On Saturday, the Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta took bronze against Novak Djokovic.
