Fabio Jakobsen wins the sprint in the eighth stage of the Vuelta

Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck-Quick Step) was the winner of the eighth stage of the Vuelta a España by winning the final sprint on arrival at La Manga del Mar Menor, in the region of Murcia. The Dutch cyclist was the fastest and won for the second time in this edition of the Spanish round ahead of the other fast men.

The 174-kilometer stage between Santa Pola and La Manga del Mar Menor was ideal for the fastest cyclists in the large group and the three escaped runners were not allowed to reach the finish line. The sprinters’ teams also soon ruined the adventure of Jetse Bol (Burgos-BH) who tried to surprise when they were two kilometers away.

On the other hand, there were no changes in the general and Primoz Roglic (Team Jumbo-Visma) is still before the arrival high today in Velefique, special category, 13.2 km at 6.4%.
