EXCLUSIVE PB – Reale Mutua Torino, De Vico: “Turin is beautiful and I’m here to win”

Yesterday began the second week of training at Reale Mutua Torino: under the orders of coach Casalone, the roster is following the program in preparation for the first Super Cup matches which will start in September.

We met Niccolò De Vico and the former Varese wing, has fallen into the dynamics of the Savoy city and immediately made himself available to the new project by David Avino.

Born in Monza on 19 July 1994, Niccolò grew up in the youth sector of Pallacanestro Biella with which he made his debut in Serie A in the 2009/10 championship. After seven years in Biella, Reggio Emilia is called where he spends two seasons, also making his debut in the EuroCup. After the experience in Cremona in the 19/20 season, he marries to Varese, producing an average of 5.5 points in the last year in the other 20 ‘of use. He made his debut in the national team with the U16 in 2008, and boasts a participation in the U20 European Championship in 2014.

De Vico, after so many years in Piedmont, his arrival in Turin: what are your first impressions of the city?

“Turin is the first major city in which I play and this influenced my choice to marry the project. The city is very beautiful and is very passionate about sports; I am very curious to be able to know it and experience it in all its facets and over time. I will visit it free because there are so many important museums and very large parks to be able to walk in peace “.

The new project also has a new owner, David Avino: what struck you from the first cognitive encounters?

“Both Avino and D’Orta were immediately direct and clear, which in our world is never taken for granted. The president is a young entrepreneur and the collaborators of his company are on average just as young and very well prepared, which struck me. favorably. The team was formed respecting the thoughts of the club: young and motivated people, who worked hard right from the very first training sessions. “

What are the differences between the top flight and this hyper competitive A2?

“In Serie A the rosters are much deeper and, for example the 6 + 6, foreigners are almost always top-level athletes and physically structured. In A2 the bench is much shorter, but also this year many teams they have made important investments and some level players have “dropped” in category, raising the general level of the competition “.

Pending the signing of the second American, what are your first impressions of Devon Scott?

“Absolutely positive and I’m not saying that because he’s a teammate of mine: believe me, I played with Americans who are not easy to manage and he immersed himself in the role of the great professional. In recent days we had the opportunity to meet all together for the first dinner together, we were sitting side by side and together with his family he turned out to be a very nice person and prone to human relationships. He is fit and at the first training he told us that he came to win something important. I think and I hope he can to do well”.

You met the new coach: Casalone is young and with great qualities, what are your feelings after the first days of training together?

“I state that I did not know him and I never got to work with him. We met for the first time during my summer training sessions with Federico D’Anna and the coach came to attend some of these sessions. We immediately talked of basketball and I was struck by his desire to share his game ideas which, believe me, are very clear. He has the ability to make every single player feel important and is the first to smile and play down after long hours of work in the gym . In this period we focus a lot on hard training and his presence puts us in a position to feel less fatigue. He is very prepared. “

Turin is the city that gave birth to many electronic music groups, one of his hobbies …

“Yes it’s true, Turin is one of the houses of these sounds that fascinate me a lot: I love music in general, but in this period electronics and techno fill my playlists. In these two years, unfortunately we have not been able to attend the festivals and many musical events. I hope that soon we can go back to normal also because I like to travel and visit new places where I always discover new things “.
