Everyone in Pau: Football belongs to us, the supporters

This is not an article that I am used to writing, but through these lines I wanted to send a message to our entire community, that of football. As I type on my keyboard, the Pau Football Club is negotiating with the Indians to increase the prices which were already recorded. It’s a funny way to welcome opposing supporters after a year of absence from the stands. Football is, and must remain, a popular sport, accessible to everyone, without always thinking about money. We saw it clearly during this Covid period: sport without supporters is not the same thing. Football without the fervor that surrounds it is not the same thing. Even if we do not hold the reins, that we do not have all the cards in hand, that sometimes our voice is not heard, that we are forbidden to travel or that we see ourselves bothered on the price increase, it is important to remember that this sport that we love so much belongs to us, the supporters. Shouting our joy, shouting our despair, vibrating with our loved ones or singing in unison with hundreds, even thousands of people, are the very reasons for our presence in a stadium. They are conviviality, passion, ardor, sadness or even deliverance. For many people, it’s an escape from everyday problems, or just a family pastime, and it should stay that way. Dear supporters, dear supporters, football belongs to us. We are the essence of this sport, never forget that.

Everyone to Pau!
