Hoffenheim trembles into the second round – Ingolstadt and KSC win

The second division soccer teams FC Ingolstadt and Karlsruher SC can celebrate, both teams won their games in the first round of the DFB Cup. Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim had to go into extra time against third division club Viktoria Köln.

Captain Andrej Kramaric prevented another opening embarrassment in the DFB Cup. Coach Sebastian Hoeneß’s team finally won 3: 2 (1: 1, 1: 1) at the third division soccer club Viktoria Köln. Last year TSG failed right at the start against second division team SpVgg Greuther Fürth, and Hoffenheim was eliminated four times in the first main round.

FC Ingolstadt wrestles Aue in the cup
Ingolstadt decided the second division duel with the Saxons from Erzgebirge Aue on Monday evening 2-1 (1-0) for themselves. After the false start to the season with two defeats in the 2nd Bundesliga, the Upper Bavaria moved into the second round of the cup. The 21-year-old Fatih Kaya met in front of 3322 spectators shortly after being substituted on (79th minute).
The hosts got off to a great start in the game. Filip Bilbija struck a cross pass from Dennis Eckert Ayensa in the 6th minute. Aue pushed after the break and equalized with Ben Zolinski (67th). The FCI earned the victory with commitment. The agile Eckert Ayensa missed the 2-0 with a cracking picket shot (42nd).

Fabijan Buntic was a great support for Ingolstadt. The goalkeeper held great several times, for example against Omar Sijaric (30th), with a double chance from Soufiane Messeguem and Zolinski (37th) and also in stoppage time with a shot by Dimitrij Nazarov.
An invigorating offensive element among the guests was newcomer Babacar Guèye. The massive striker from Senegal came into play at the break and put Zolinski on the equalizer well worth seeing.
KSC takes the cup hurdle with ease
The KSC had no problems with the 4-1 (1-0) at the regional division Sportfreunde Lotte. The Tecklenburger, who had reached the quarter-finals in the 2016/2017 season after victories over Werder Bremen, 1860 Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, missed a cup surprise this time.

Striker Philipp Hofmann with his fourth goal in the third competitive game (50th), Kaufmann (58th) and substitute Lucas Cueto (79th) ensured the victory. Lotte’s captain Timo Brauer scored 1: 3 (72nd).
The first round of the DFB Cup will be concluded on August 25 (8:15 p.m.) by Bremer SV and record cup winners FC Bayern Munich. The original game date had to be postponed last Friday due to corona cases near Bremen.
