The devastating floods that hit Brazil prompted the Brazilian Football Federation (Cbf) to suspend two matchdays of Brasilerao, the national football championship. The CBF “decides to suspend all football matches of all Serie A clubs until May 27th“, effectively postponing the entire seventh and eighth matchdays, announced the president, Ednaldo Rodrigues, in a statement. “Brazil – recalls the CBF – is tragically struck by an environmental tragedy unprecedented in historywhich had a direct impact on millions of people in the State of Rio Grande do Sul and, consequently, on the football played in Brazil.”
