After the bronze of Giuffrida (judo) Lodo (rowing 4 without) and Quadarella (1500 freestyle), the silver of Berrè (team saber) comes the first gold (the fifth for the Italian expedition) for an athlete from Lazio. In the Italian morning together with his racing partner Ruggero Tita found the first place in sailing, specialty Nacra-17. A historic result for this discipline since the last one to be won a medal was 13 years ago (even 21 to find a gold with Alessandra Sensini). The Azzurri presented themselves at the Medal Race with ample chance of winning, given the path they had made in the last few days which allowed them to “only” control the British boat and manage a good margin of points. To get to the top step of the podium it was enough to get within five positions behind Gimson and Burnet.
