Before the new DEL season, ice hockey professionals advertise vaccinations

EA week before the start of the season for the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), Managing Director Gernot Tripcke warned that all clubs would have the same conditions when the audience returned. “We still have a huge problem in Bavaria,” he said on Tuesday in Berlin. He spoke of “logistical imponderables” that threatened the existence of the clubs concerned.

In Bavaria, for example, the rule still applies that for indoor sports a ticket can only be sold for half of the seats, that visitors must wear an FFP2 mask and keep a distance of 1.50 meters from one another. In addition to Munich, the Augsburg Panthers, the Nuremberg Ice Tigers, the Straubing Tigers and the ERC Ingolstadt are affected by this provision, Tripcke complained. “In practice, that means 1,000 viewers and less,” he said, “it is not economically viable”.

For the other clubs, as decided by the Prime Minister’s Conference on August 10, there are no restrictions for up to 5,000 spectators and a limit of fifty percent beyond that; for example, 9,300 visitors are admitted to the Kölner Haien.

Tripcke called on the members of the Bavarian State Parliament to lift this restriction. “It is important that unlimited viewers are possible in a timely manner, at least with 2G. And the planning horizon should be at least 14 days so that ticket sales are also logistically feasible, ”said Tripcke.

Under the motto “Hey you. In here. ”, Individual DEL professionals advertise a vaccination against the coronavirus at the start of the main round. In video clips that are played out via the social media channels of the actors and their employers, actors such as national team goalkeeper Mathias Niederberger (Berlin), Alex Barta (Düsseldorfer EG) or Colin Ugbekile (Kölner Haie) position themselves for the protective measure. “I think it’s an excellent opportunity,” said Barta of his commitment to combating the pandemic and its aftermath.
