The Raggisolaris move the tower. Welcome to Faenza Giovanni Poggi, a 201 cm pivot born in 1997, who has already crossed paths with Rekico on several occasions in Serie B wearing the Crema and Desio tank tops. Poggi has played in the last three seasons in the A2 series where he has stood out for his physicality and determination and is now ready to put all his qualities at the service of coach Serra who will make him a point of reference in the team’s game.

Born in Rome on 27 March 1997, Giovanni Poggi began playing basketball in the youth sector of the Alfa Omega Roma, leaving him at 17 to take the leap to Serie B. In the 2014/15 season he played in Palestrina dividing himself between the third national championship. and the DNG and in the following one he is in Isernia, always in B. In 2016/17 he moves to Northern Italy where he plays in Aurora Desio (B and DNG) and in Pallacanestro Crema (Serie B) in the following year, facing with both Rekico. In 2018 he climbs to A2 playing for two years in Mantua Basketball. Last season he wore the colors of Assigeco Piacenza always in the A2 series and then married the Raggisolaris project.

“The Raggisolaris have always made a great impression on me – explains Poggi – and not only because every time I have faced them they have always been very difficult matches. I consider the company ambitious and in fact it has always set up important staff for the category, but in addition to the organization, the building and the cheering remained impressed on me. I remember that the audience sang from the first to the last minute without ever stopping and it will be nice to have him by our side next season. I also talked to the coach and his staff who explained to me the training will be structured. Coming from A2 I immediately realized that the type of work we will do in the coming months will be more from A2 than from B and this is a further confirmation of the club’s professionalism. At the Raggisolaris there are therefore all the conditions to do well and to grow ”.

“I’m very energetic and gritty and I always put myself at the team’s disposal. In the offensive phase I have more quality in penetrations than in stopping and shooting, where I still have to work, but above all I really like to defend and fight under the basket. I believe that the team that is being born is very good and that there are the foundations to take away some satisfactions with the aim of getting as far as possible, while on a personal level I aim to grow. The important thing will be to think more about the group than myself and in fact I believe that the unity and cohesion of the team are essential for playing good championships “.
