A traffic accident, in which three vehicles participated, occurred around 8 in the morning this Friday at the corner of Luis Batlle Berres and Carmelo Colman, near Las Piedras. Two young men, 22 and 27, were traveling on a motorcycle. They were driving through Colman and when they reached the intersection with Batlle Berres they crossed, without respecting a stop sign. The motorcyclists were hit by a truck traveling north through Batlle Berres. As a result of the impact, the 27-year-old, who was traveling as a passenger on the motorcycle, was fired and hit the windows of a school van that was passing by. The man died on the spot, while the driver of the motorcycle, a 22-year-old young man, was transferred in serious condition to the Las Piedras Hospital, where he remains hospitalized. 19 children were traveling in the school van; nine of whom suffered minor injuries and were treated by mobile emergencies at the scene. The remaining 10 and the driver were unharmed. In the event, Firefighters, members of Section 4 and Scientific Police worked.
