Alireza Beiranvand continues his career at Boavista Porto. The number thirteen of last season in the Portuguese Primeira Liga rents the 28-year-old Iranian goalkeeper from Antwerp for one season. Boavista also negotiated a purchase option.
Beiranvand landed on the Bosuil with a lot of drum roll last summer, but his passage to Antwerp was not a success. Coach Ivan Leko was quick to label the Iranian a “wrong choice.”
He ended up playing 12 games for the Great Old, all in December, January and February, but mostly had to keep the bench warm. His contract with Antwerp runs until June 2023.
