The Unicaja infantil and Eduardo García, awarded at the Andalusia Basketball Gala

Emotional night of Andalusian basketball with Unicaja as the protagonist. The Malaga club was present at the 4th Andalusia Basketball Gala, that took place in the gardens of Sanlúcar de Barrameda City Council, in an act in which, among others, the Unicaja Andalucía Infantil feminine and the former president of Unicaja Baloncesto were awarded Eduardo Garcia.



The Unicaja Andalucía Infantil female received the ‘Indalo’ award for its recent success in the Spanish Championship of the category, in which it was proclaimed champion in a tournament held in Marín (Galicia). This award was collected by the Director of Cantera, Ramon Garcia, and by the coach of this Children’s Women’s team, Javier Pérez de los Reyes.

In addition, within the recognition of Andalusian basketball executives, former President Eduardo García was awarded the ‘Olivo’ trophy for his career of almost 11 years at the helm of Unicaja, being the longest-lived president in the history of the entity typesetters. His sporting achievements include the 2017 Eurocup title or the Copa del Rey runner-up held in Malaga in 2020. During the presidency of Eduardo García, with the support of the Unicaja Foundation, the women’s teams and the remodeling of the Los Guindos Pavilion, headquarters of the quarry, which was modernized.

Other Andalusian basketball institutions and personalities who were awarded at the event were the Cádiz Provincial Council, the San Fernando City Council, URBASER, José Ramón García Ortiz (acb referee retired last year after 41 years in service), Viajes El Corte Inglés, Ministry of Education and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía, ADESA 80 and José Luis Pena de la Rosa (vice president FAB).
