Tennis: Bolivia wins the South American U-12 runner-up

The women’s national tennis team reached the runner-up in the South American tournament that took place in Lima, Peru, where the men’s team placed fifth after beating Venezuela 2-1.

Catalina Morales, Valery Sumoya and Zoe Castro were the architects of this achievement, counting on the support of Moyra Peres as captain and coach of the team.

The Bolivian women’s army was awarded group A of the international contest as an invitee, which allowed them to settle the crown with their peers from Brazil, winner of series B.

In the first singles match, the Bolivian Castro fell to the Brazilian Ana Cruz (2-6,2-6), while in the second match, despite her efforts, Sumoya could not beat Victoria Barros and lost 2-1 ( 1-6, 6-3,5-7).

Males

The Bolivian men’s team, led by its captain Daniel Miranda, obtained fifth place in the international competition after defeating Venezuela in the doubles duel, after being paired in the singles modality.

Sebastián Miranda, Oliver Solís, Matheo Calvo conquered third place in group A, while the llaneros did the same, but in series B.

In the first match, Venezuelan Rafael De Lima beat Miranda with a double 6-4; however, Solís matched the key product of the victory he obtained against Rodolfo De Andreis (7-5, 6-1).

The confrontation was defined in the doubles match, with the nationals as winners over De Andreis and De Lima (6-2, 6-4).

This tournament granted three places in the two branches for the Copa Cosat that will be held in Santa Cruz de la Sierra at the end of the year.

By being hosts, the country has its presence assured with its selection of men and women.
