Richard Gasquet struggled but could not do anything against the Italian Marco Cecchinato (2-6, 7-5, 3-6) on Monday in Bastad (Sweden). The French, seeded number 5, will not see the second round of the tournament.
Marco Cecchinato is in good shape on clay having reached the final in Parma and the third round of Roland Garros. He will face the winner of Tuesday’s Argentine duel between Federico Coria and Francisco Cerundolo.
