No flags, but with Olympic pride

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed the participation of an Olympic Team of Refugee Athletes in the Tokyo 2020 Games.

After years of training, 29 refugee athletes will be in Tokyo competing in 12 Olympic sports and sending a powerful message of solidarity and hope to the world.

“I am delighted to congratulate each of the athletes nominated to be part of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Refugee Team”said United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, who is also vice president of the Olympic Refugee Foundation (ORF).

“They are an exceptional group of people who inspire the world”
