Nacho López, excited about his return to Avilés: “I want to be a protagonist”

“I arrive with a tremendous illusion and wanting to start”, were the words with which Nacho López began the press conference of his return yesterday, after being confirmed by Avilés on Tuesday morning.

The player is an old acquaintance of the Blue and White fans. Nacho López was one of the undisputed Josu Uribe in the remembered campaign in which Avilés was two steps away from promotion to the Second Division. His good performance allowed the footballer to fulfill his dream of playing for Real Oviedo, in whose quarry he trained. After two years at the Tartiere, he played for Ponferradina, Lealtad, Pontevedra and Salamanca UDS, a team that now comes to Avilés. At 33, Nacho López returns, as he himself says, being “the same player as seven years ago.” He lands in Avilés with the hope of being a relevant player in an ambitious project “with an incredible look”, with which he wishes to continue growing the club because “Avilés deserves it”.

During the event, Nacho López was tremendously excited and eager to succeed in the Avilés team, as well as grateful for all the love that the fans are giving him: “I hope I can give it back to you.”

In his first statements as a player from Aviles, Nacho López, advanced what are the maximum ambitions of the team: “you have to go out with great humility, with clear ideas and knowing that it will be a very tough category”, and in a more personal aspect shows “wanting to be a protagonist and do it well,” he said.

The one from Oviedo understands the difficulties of this new category for Avilés and highlights the importance of “having the idea of not being afraid of anyone” to be able to do “great things” that year.

More experience

Astu, Avilés sports director, who acted as master of ceremonies at López’s presentation, was in charge of thanking the player for “the facilities and predisposition” he had when joining the Blue and White project. He also praised the great trajectory of his new incorporation. “A player with much more experience and many more games in his legs,” said the new manager of the sports field of the entity chaired by Diego Baeza.

And it is that the Oviedo faces his new season in Avilés with a great experience in Second Division B, a category in which he has a total of 237 games, in addition to seven meetings with Real Oviedo in the Second Division. The footballer has been under the command of Chiqui de Paz, coach of the Avilesino team since yesterday.
