The day this Saturday has been somewhat harrowing for the New York Mets, who were forced to disqualify Francisco Lindor and his ace Jacob deGrom.
Lindor was hurt while hitting a ground ball to second base Friday in the Metropolitans’ 4-1 loss to Pittsburgh.
To replace the Puerto Rican, the Big Apple summoned Travis Blankenhorn, from the Triple A team in Syracuse.
Lindor, who signed a 10-year, $ 341 million deal early in the season, is currently hitting .228 with 11 home runs.

deGrom, on the other hand, had stiffness in his right forearm during a bullpen session also on Friday.
He was scheduled to make his first start of the second half of the season next Monday, but he will be on leave as a precaution until the discomfort subsides.
The right-hander is the season’s most dominant pitcher with a 1.08 ERA after 15 starts. He is 7-2 with 92 work innings and 146 strikeouts.
The Mets, affected by several injuries in the first half, remain leaders of their division with a record of 47-41, three games above the Phillies.
