He risked drowning

Marinella – Bather saved from drowning yesterday morning in Marinella, thanks to an extraordinary action by the rescue team, who in turn risked being swallowed by the waters. I’m rescued after more than half an hour, a fifty-five year old resident in Val di Magra, he was transported to the San Bartolomeo emergency room, where he recovered in mid-afternoon.

The incident happened at the Alfa Diana factory in via Kennedy at 1pm. “We lived through difficult times – says the owner of the bathroom, Stefano Bianchini -, because for the first time this year we had a south-westerly storm turned to sirocco which caused waves more than 2 meters high. The bather entered the water recklessly, and was quickly sucked offshore about 200 meters from the shore, it was at this point that the alarm went off ”

The first to notice the danger was the lifeguard of the nearby bathroom Rome, Enzo Meneghini (Judo champion and also owner of a training school for personal defense, ed), who asked for the help of colleagues. Unable to use the rescue skate precisely because of the sea conditions, with donuts and baywatches, together with Meneghini, colleagues Tiberio Bianchini (Alfa Diana), the windsurfer and firefighter Carlo Bogazzi, who at that time was on the sailboard and Fulvio Mazzola (Bagno Rondine).

In a few minutes they managed to reach the bather in difficulty, reassuring him and finally putting him in safety, despite the strength of the waves never hinting at diminishing. Rather. And for this very reason it is not over. Another moment of tension began, as the group had great difficulty getting back to shore. The sea dragged them all out to sea.

And in many of the visitors to the Alfa Diana and neighboring establishments, many feared the worst. But in the end and after about half an hour, the strength of the lifeguards coordinated in the water with an ad hoc movement to avoid the waves as much as possible, it allowed them to regain land. And a big applause from the small crowd that gathered, put an end to the great moment of fear and strong fear
