– Vivere Senigallia continues the meetings with the protagonists of the local sporting activity. This time we met Elettra Zampini, a young badminton player (born in 2005) with high hopes. He tells us about his passion for this discipline.

When and how did your passion for badminton start?

When I was 12 years old, on the occasion of the participation in the Coni trophy to which the physical education teacher summoned me: to prepare me she made me participate in badminton courses with my current coach Alessandro Bailetti. Later I continued to train because I liked it a lot and I enjoyed it. I started doing small tournaments, the results didn’t come immediately, it took a lot of patience and above all a lot of passion. With the passage of time the first satisfactions arrived and now I am satisfied with myself. This is just the beginning, slowly I hope to be able to achieve my true goal.

What is the result of your still young career that you remember with most pleasure?

It was at the Superseries of Malles, a tournament to which the first sixteen athletes in my category were admitted. I got on the podium, in second place. It was a very difficult tournament, as I met very good and more experienced opponents, but despite this I managed to make it to the final. Even though I didn’t finish first, I was happy with my result, as it was an important and high-level tournament.

Last month you were called up for the “Vola in Azzurro” meeting in Milan which was held from 18 to 20 June together with all the best Italian athletes in your category. How did it go?

The “Vola in Azzurro” rally was a very beautiful and exciting experience. I trained hard every day, together with the best Italian athletes in my category. Besides having fun, I put a lot of dedication into it. For me it was a great satisfaction, as I understood that with perseverance and commitment the results come.

For many years, badminton has been a favorite leisure game. Today it is in full expansion, which however sees its main diffusion in the countries of the Far East and Northern Europe. How do you see the future of this discipline, even at the media level, in our country?

I really hope that badminton can emerge in Italy, being a complete sport both physically and above all mental. Growth, education and respect are the things that I have received the most since practicing this sport and I would very much like my experience to be lived by many of my other peers.

Goals and ambitions for the future?

In the meantime, I would like to be able to participate in an international tournament and later to become part of the national team, in order to represent Italy outside our country.
