English fans are calling for the European Championship finals to be held again

England’s negative run continues. The English national team had to cope with another lost final on Sunday evening. But not all English football fans wanted to admit the defeat and so an Englishman caused a sensation with a curious action.

He started an online petition calling on UEFA to re-host the European Championship final against Italy. The reason given on the change.org platform is Giorgio Chiellini’s gross foul on Bukayo Saka, which was punished with the yellow card. For many fans, however, that was not enough, they demanded red for Chiellini. The petition literally states: “The match was not fair after Italy only received a yellow card for pulling England players like slaves.”

As of Tuesday morning, more than 90,000 supporters have already signed the online petition. It remains to be seen whether UEFA will respond to the petition. The chances of success decrease to zero.
