Dominic Barona (surfing), Adriana Espinoza de los Monteros (archery) and Kiara Rodríguez (para-athletics) received this Tuesday morning, from the authorities of the Ministry of Sports and the Ecotec University, a pleasant farewell before putting Heading to Japan to participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, respectively.

Barona will compete in the women’s short board surfing modality and Espinoza de los Monteros is qualified in female individual recurve. Meanwhile, Rodríguez will represent Ecuador in the jump test, 100 meters, in the Paralympics.

The three athletes, belonging to the Zone 8 registries, attended an event that took place at the Ecotec University, Samborondón campus. There they were honored by the Minister of Sports, Sebastián Palacios, and the rector of that university, Gilda Alcívar.

The authorities of the national athletics, shooting, table tennis, swimming and wrestling federations represented the athletes Marizol Landázuri, Marina Pérez, Alberto Miño, Tomás Peribonio, Anicka Delgado, Lucía Yépez and Luisa Valverde, who were absent due to their planning training abroad, the website of the Ministry of Sports reported and reason.
