The athlete, current quarterback for the Detroit Lions of the NFL, was recorded on video while supporting his wife, the Colombian-American athlete Melissa González, and the video was broadcast by the team with a greeting from their players for the young woman.
In addition, sportswriter Brad Galli replied with an emotional message.
“Best video you’ll see today: Lions quarterback David Blough saw his wife Melissa Gonzalez at the Olympics,” he wrote.
And it is that in the recording it is appreciated that the athlete is in the front row near a giant screen, and the nerves are evident when seeing that his wife marches alongside the other competitors.
His teammates support and applaud when the athlete cross the finish line of the 400 meter hurdles event second, while David exploded with excitement.
And it was no wonder since the Colombian, who speaks very little Spanish, set a new national record by crossing the line with a time of 55.32 seconds, which allowed her to go to the athletics semifinals in Olympic Games.
The young athlete, 26, celebrated the victory with a message on his networks where he showed his joy for this important step: “Thank you for all the love and support.”
