Covid-19: after a month of reopening, the health pass is well accepted in climbing rooms

Near the Nation metro station, in Paris (12th century), the Arkose gym has reopened for more than a month. This former school blouse factory converted into a 1000 m2 climbing room has found its regulars. The dust accumulated in recent months has given way to magnesia. The climbers quickly regained their marks. The most skilled polishing their technique under the watchful eyes of novices. “We had a great start! Every day we have 30% of new subscribers ”, exults Maxime Jublot who took over the management of the room a few months ago.

For the young manager, the priority is to keep the room open and the health pass seems to be a good solution. “I hope everyone will be vaccinated by September. It shouldn’t be a problem, the team members already are or they’ve made an appointment. “

Climbers rather convinced by the health pass

“I am totally for the health pass. I made the effort to get vaccinated, it would be good if everyone was too, explains Thibault, a climber who tidies his things. I have no hesitation, it is necessary if we do not want to be re-defined. “For this entrepreneur, the vaccine is essential. “I try to convince my friends, even if some do not care and just don’t want to be vaccinated,” he adds. This conviction is shared by many regulars including Aurélien. “I don’t ask myself any questions, I want to continue to live and play sports, we have a vaccine, we might as well use it,” says this sports educator.

If most of the climbers in the room seem in favor of the device, some have reservations. This is the case with Clément, sitting on one of the thick carpets in the room: “I’m not too much of a fan of the sanitary pass. All of my friends were getting vaccinated so I did, but if they hadn’t, I wouldn’t have either. It is above all a form of weariness expressed by the athlete. “I have the impression that we are never going to get out of it, that there will always be something to put restrictions”, he laments.

At the reception of the room, where a “healthy” bar is installed, Laetitia welcomes the climbers with a broad smile that one imagines behind her mask. “The health pass is a good thing, but it’s sad that it comes to this, and then it’s done in a rush,” laments the young woman, a little annoyed. She nevertheless made an appointment to be vaccinated in the coming days.
