Defending champion FC Bayern Munich welcomes former series champion Brose Bamberg in the first round of the German Basketball Cup. That was the result of the draw by Bundesliga managing director Stefan Holz and boxer Nelvie Tiafack on Wednesday in Cologne.
Champion and cup finalist Alba Berlin also starts with a home game and awaits the Telekom Baskets Bonn. The main round winner of the last BBL season, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, meets the Hakro Merlins Crailsheim away from home.
The other games are Fraport Frankfurt against EWE Baskets Oldenburg, Niners Chemnitz against ratiopharm Ulm, medi Bayreuth against Hamburg Towers, Basketball Löwen Braunschweig against BG Göttingen and see Oliver Würzburg against Syntainics MBC Weißenfels.
The first round will be played on October 2nd and 3rd, the top four is planned for February 19th and 20th.
