Archery: Chirault (Stade Clermontois) released from entry to Tokyo

The experience will have been intense … but short-lived. Thomas Chirault, the archer licensed at the Stade Clermontois, was eliminated as soon as he entered the competition in the men’s individual archery tournament at the Tokyo Games.

He lost to Dutchman Gijs Broeksma in five innings. More than the result, it is the way that will frustrate the original Picard since he was leading two rounds to nothing before being knocked down by his opponent (28-27, 26-24, 24-27, 27-30, 24 -27).

Beaten by an opponent better classified than him in the world ranking (20th against 14th), Chirault partially paid his disappointing qualifying round at the very start of the Olympiad (ranked 51st out of 64 with score with 648 points while he has a record at 684).

The Stadiste had unfortunately already known the misfortune of an entry elimination during the team event played on Sunday. The Tokyo Olympics therefore end with a touch of bitterness for the young 23-year-old archer.
