Aranguiz has left the armband – Seoane appoints new Leverkusen captain – Bundesliga

Leverkusen is getting a new captain!

According to BILD-Info, Charles Aranguiz (32) informed the new Bayer coach Gerardo Seoane (42) that he would like to give up the armband after just one season.

Seoane had recently emphasized repeatedly that he will make a decision when he has spoken to all candidates. The Chilean Aranguiz had just returned from vacation after the Copa America earlier this week.

Now Seoane has clarity. Before the last test on Saturday against fourth division Oberhausen (2 p.m., Haberland Stadium), he will discuss the captain’s issue with the team – and announce the new boss.

There are three hot candidates: midfielder Julian Baumgartlinger (33), captain of the Austrian national team. Goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky (31), the team’s positive leader. Central defender Jonathan Tah (25), who regularly held the captaincy of the junior selection teams.

► Regardless of Seoane’s election, it is already clear: The other two will become representatives with a seat on the team council. Top talent Florian Wirtz (18) should also belong to this group.
