Cooper may start training on the disabled list

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network described Cooper’s injury as an ailment rather than something serious. Rapoport added that Cooper may start training on the disabled list.

“Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper may not be ready to start training due to an ankle injury, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday,” detailed NFL.com on June 9. “It is more of an ailment than anything that he has had for two weeks and does not allow him to run,” Rapoport reported. “Cooper won’t be able to run for two or three weeks because he needs time for his ankle to heal,” Rapoport added. “The reason why he could miss the start of training and that he is inactive is that he will not be sufficiently recovered to be able to run without risk of re-injury.

Cooper revealed that he had ankle surgery for Instagram in january. The receptor played all the games for the Cowboys last season.

“The operation was a success,” Cooper said on Instagram on January 7.

McCarthy talks about Cooper: “I hope he’s ready for training.”

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy gave Cooper an update during a press conference at June training. McCarthy said Cooper could miss some workouts, but said he hoped the catcher was ready.

“You learn this early on, injuries are part of this sport, and injuries open doors for other players,” McCarthy explained on June 9. “All of this helps develop the 90-player squad. We have five or six receivers who have struggled during this period. As we said before, this gives Tony Pollard more opportunities to be more involved. As for Amari, he continues to recover from his injury. You will not take any more part of this series of trainings. I just hope he is there for the next training sessions.
