World wrestling medalist Adam Coon to be blocker on an NFL team

American Adam Coon, world runner-up in Greco-Roman wrestling at 130 kilos, will join the Tennessee Titans as an offensive blocker, this American football league (NFL) franchise announced.

Adam Coon, 26, came second at the 2018 World Championships in Budapest, falling 9-0 in the final match to Russian Sergey Semenov, and in 2019 he won the Pan American title in 130kg.

The American, who is 1.96 meters tall and weighs 140 kilos, did not get a place on the United States Olympic team for the Tokyo Olympics.

Now he will focus on making a place on the offensive line for the Titans, who in 2020 lost to the Baltimore Ravens in their first playoff crossover.

The new signing from Tennessee starred in an extraordinary college career in Michigan with three national wrestling titles and has not played football since he was named the best high school linebacker in that state in 2013.

Adam Coon will reinforce the group of offensive linemen that has helped running back Derrick Henry lead the NFL in runs the past two seasons.
