The 103rd National High School Baseball Championship Wakayama Tournament combination lottery, which opens on July 9 at Kimiidera Park Baseball Stadium in Kemi, Wakayama City, was held at Wakayama Big Ai in Tebira, Wakayama City on the 19th. 39 schools participated in the tournament. The seed schools will be Chiben Wakayama, Ichi Wakayama, Wakayama Higashi, and Kindai Shingu, which entered the top four in the spring prefectural qualifying round. For the semi-final combination, the captain of the team that won the quarter-finals will draw lots in sequence. To prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, the maximum number of general spectators is 1,400 per day, and the maximum number of visitors to the Alps stand is 300 at each school. Only reserve players, school officials and parents can enter the Alps stand. Depending on the spread of the new corona infection, it may be held without spectators. The general admission fee is 700 yen for adults and 300 yen for junior and senior high school students.
The director and captain of each participating school attended the combination lottery. Kenji Nakamura, Chairman of the Prefectural High School Baseball Federation, said, “20 days until the opening. The four seed schools were divided into zones A, B, C, and D, after which the captains of 35 schools drew lots in turn. Ichi Wakayama, who participated in the selection tournament this spring with Kenta Kozono, a good pitcher who is attracting attention from professionals, will face Wakayama Prefecture in the third game on the 14th. Chiben Wakayama, who won the prefectural qualifying tournament last summer and won the prefectural qualifying round this spring, will face Minoshima, who has a good left arm, Daimasa Nakagawa, in the third game on the 13th. Wakayama Higashi will fight Shingu in the first game on the 13th.
