Vassilis Spanoulis recently returned to the Greek national team after six years of absence to try to qualify for the selection for the Tokyo Olympics (July 23-August 8). But he had to give up the TQO because of an injury.
Spanoulis had his first successes with Panathinaikos (Euroleague 2009) before signing with the great rival Olympiakos and living there ten fabulous years (Euroleague 2012 and 2013, seven times champion of Greece). In the national team, he was one of the strongmen of victory at Euro 2005. He also has a silver medal at the 2006 World Cup and bronze at Euro 2009.
Specialist in three-point shooting and often decisive in the “money time”, he could not however win in the NBA where he spent only one season with the Houston Rockets (2006-2007). “Basketball allowed me to have a unique journey filled with intense moments and great emotions. This sport gave me everything and I gave it everything I had ”, he said on his social networks.
